Majesty 2 running slow12/21/2023 But the film picks up in its last act for a semi-decent action film. I can't say I wasn't at least on the verge of falling asleep at that time. There is a good 45-50 minutes or little to no action at all, and this is a Bond film. It's 2 and a half hours long, and you feel the length. One of the biggest issues with this film though is the pacing. But I'm not sure Bond has had as close of a relationship to a woman in any of the other films, which makes this film pretty unique. Knowing that Rigg has a big part in Game of Thrones 50 years later was interesting to watch as well. Lazenby isn't as good at pulling off the womanizing or bada** side of Bond, but his chemistry with Tracy, played by Diana Rigg, was great. It just has several problems that could have been fixed. I will say that this film with Connery probably would have been better, but this is by no means a bad film. The studio was able to get pretty much everyone else back, with the exception of Blofeld, for the film. Of course, this was a one off for George Lazenby, who wished to only play 007 once. We recommend that you make sure that the Office and SMB binaries are up-to-date, and then test by having leasing disabled on the SMB server. On Her Majesty's Secret Service is often the forgotten Bond because it was in between Connery outings. This is common and typically is caused by the manner in which Office apps (Microsoft Excel, in particular) access and read data. This problem generally occurs on a WAN connection. You potentially observe speeds of less than 1 MB/s. In some scenarios, these actions are repeated thousands of time. This is because the data is typically scanned one time by the packet sniffer and a second time when it is written to disk. If any antivirus program is running, the transfer slows down even more. This is because the SMB request is first translated to a file system command and then to the actual file system latency to complete the operation. Or some variation of the create command creates the actual file.Įach create command generates activity on the file system.Īfter the data is written, the file is closed.Īll some time, the process suffers from network latency and SMB server latency. Some code will check whether the file exists, and then create the file. SMB calls a create command to request that the file be created. The following are technical details about this problem: When a large number of small files are transferred, the cost is repetitive and causes slow transfers. For large file transfers, these costs occur only one time. This is an expected behavior.ĭuring file transfer, file creation causes both high protocol overhead and high file system overhead. Slow transfer of small files through SMB occurs most commonly if there are many files. To do this, run the following command: Set-SmbClientConfiguration -EnableBandwidthThrottling 0 -EnableLargeMtu 1 On the SMB client, enable large MTU in SMB, and disable bandwidth throttling. This can cause throttling by the TCP congestion provider.įor SMBv3 and later versions, make sure that SMB Multichannel is enabled and working. Use RAMMap (SysInternals) to determine whether "Mapped File" usage in memory stops growing because of free memory exhaustion. For more information, see Performance tuning for SMB file servers. Use storage performance monitor counters to determine whether storage performance degrades over time. This forces data to be written directly to disk (write-through). This usually occurs when the initial copy is cached or buffered (either in memory or in the RAID controller's memory cache) and the cache runs out. Follow these guidelines to verify this situation: This is because file copy speeds are limited by storage speed.įile copies sometimes start fast and then slow down. Try the file copy command for unbuffered IO ( xcopy /J or robocopy /J). If you observe slow transfers of files, consider the following This article provides suggested troubleshooting procedures for slow file transfer speeds through SMB.

Ill be gone in the dark12/21/2023 But the frequent text exchanges between McNamara and her husband, comedian Patton Oswalt, can feel distractingly intimate, even if they’re in service of illustrating the tragedy of a life cut much too short.īy making McNamara’s story such a major part of her account of the Golden State Killer case, Garbus is clearly experimenting with the true-crime genre and what it could be. Her voice suffuses the series, though it’s Amy Ryan who reads the stubby, ultra-direct sentences from her book. I’ll Be Gone in the Dark includes plenty of video footage of McNamara from the last years of her life, revealing a woman who’s evidently thought long and hard about her passion for cold cases - as well as one grappling with professional insecurities until her death. What should be a bingeable mystery feels too often like an indulgent slog. These two modes of the six-hour docuseries finally find a shared theme in shattered domestic peace very late in the series, but McNamara, as she’s depicted here by Garbus and her team, isn’t dynamic enough as a traditional screen “character” to hold such sustained interest. In line with the autobiographical bent of the source material, I’ll Be Gone in the Dark is as much an extended eulogy of McNamara as it is a recounting of the Golden State Killer case. But in swimming against one true-crime current, she ends up swallowed up by another: narrative bloat. Garbus is a skilled-enough filmmaker that she could’ve fit all of the above accomplishments within a two-hour feature.

Care bears hand fan12/21/2023 If the term "CGI animation" makes you cringe, or you're worried that the technology will forever ruin your treasured Care Bears memories, you need only look at pictures or videos of the 2012 Bears to realize that these guys truly are the cuddly, soft, big, huggable Care Bears you knew and loved as a child - right down to their fur. (It appears that Good Luck Bear didn’t make the cut.) A new character will be introduced as well with Wonderheart Bear, Tenderheart's young niece that's roughly the preschool age of the average "Welcome to Care-A-Lot" viewer, although this is not explicitly stated. Six fan favorite core characters are set to return: Tenderheart Bear Share Bear Cheer Bear Harmony Bear Grumpy Bear and Funshine Bear. The linchpin of the current reboot is a new CGI animated series, set to debut this weekend on The Hub Network, entitled "Care Bears: Welcome to Care-A-Lot." So from a timing perspective, it seemed like a great idea to push the brand out again." They're sort of in that sweet spot of (ages) 28-35, and they have kids that are about the age that would really like Care Bears. "Now just seemed right because we had women who grew up with it. "We'd been toying with the idea of re-launching for several years," Gabrielle Oliff, vice president of brand and marketing at American Greetings, told CNN. And then there were the characters in 2005's “Care Bears: Big Wish Movie": Me Bear (a narcissist), Messy Bear (think Pig-Pen of "Peanuts" fame) and Too Loud Bear (self-explanatory).īut the 2012 re-launch, directly tied to the 30th anniversary, can be considered the most massive - and it most faithfully reflects the 1982 Care Bears we remember. In 2006, the bilingual Amigo Bear was introduced as the first-ever Care Bear who was fluent in Spanish. Since 1988, however, the Care Bears have slipped in and out of vogue with various attempts to re-brand the franchise. Initially created as a greeting card line at American Greetings in 1982, the lovable, pastel-colored bears hit it big from 1983-1988, wherein there existed a Care Bears cartoon show on television, a full range of toys and products, and three movies. The Care Bears turn 30 this year, and they're also preparing for a TV comeback.

Coins market12/21/2023 Stablecoins are useful because they can still be transacted on blockchain networks while avoiding the price volatility of "normal" cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. This is most commonly achieved by pegging the stablecoin to a specific fiat currency such as the US dollar. The cryptocurrencies listed here are used as examples to illustrate the point that the best cryptocurrency depends on your specific requirements and use case.Ī stablecoin is a crypto asset that maintains a stable value regardless of market conditions. If you want to use decentralized applications and need smart contract functionality, a cryptocurrency such as Ethereum or EOS would be the best choice. In that case, you might want to consider using a cryptocurrency like XRP or Stellar Lumens instead. On the other hand, if you require transactions to be very fast and cheap, Bitcoin is probably not the best choice due to the relative inefficiency of its Proof-of-Work design. This is because the Bitcoin network consists of thousands of nodes spread geographically and is secured by a massive amount of computing power. If you value a highly secure and decentralized network above all, Bitcoin is probably your best bet. However, there are many different cryptocurrencies that all have their own advantages or disadvantages. At CoinCodex, we weigh the price data by volume so that the most active markets have the biggest influence on the prices we’re displaying.īitcoin is the most popular cryptocurrency and enjoys the most adoption among both individuals and businesses. In an illiquid market, you might have to wait for a while before someone is willing to take the other side of your trade, and the price could even be affected significantly by your order.įor smaller alternative cryptocurrencies or altcoins, there can be noticeable price discrepancies across different exchanges. A liquid market has many participants and a lot of trading volume - in practice, this means that your trades will execute quickly and at a predictable price. Cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum enjoy high levels of liquidity and trade at similar rates regardless of which specific cryptocurrency exchange you’re looking at. Generally, cryptocurrency price data will be more reliable for the most popular cryptocurrencies. These market dynamics ultimately determine the current price of any given cryptocurrency.ĬoinCodex tracks more than 400 crypto exchanges and thousands of trading pairs to make sure that our data is as reliable as possible. On exchanges, traders submit orders that specify either the highest price at which they’re willing to buy the cryptocurrency, or the lowest price at which they’re willing to sell. Depending on the exchange, cryptocurrencies can be traded against other cryptocurrencies (for example BTC/ETH) or against fiat currencies like USD or EUR (for example BTC/USD). This way, we can determine an average price that reflects cryptocurrency market conditions as accurately as possible.Ĭryptocurrency exchanges provide markets where cryptocurrencies are bought and sold 24/7. In the case of Bitcoin, as long as you control the private key necessary to transact with your BTC, you can send your BTC to anyone in the world for any reason.Ĭrypto prices are calculated by averaging cryptocurrency exchange rates on different cryptocurrency trading platforms. A cryptocurrency wallet is software that manages private and public keys. In order to send and receive a cryptocurrency, you need a cryptocurrency wallet. Proof-of-Work coins use mining, while Proof-of-Stake coins use staking to achieve consensus about the state of the ledger. The two major categories of cryptocurrencies are Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Stake. While all cryptocurrencies leverage cryptographic methods to some extent (hence the name), we can now find a number of different cryptocurrency designs that all have their own strengths and weaknesses. However, not all cryptocurrencies work in the same way. With permissionless cryptocurrencies, a node can be operated by anyone, provided they have the necessary technical knowledge, computer hardware and bandwidth. Cryptocurrency works through networks of nodes that are constantly communicating with each other to stay updated about the current state of the ledger.

Best way to facechat internationaly12/21/2023 Semi-structured interviews were conducted with GPs and pharmacists participating in the 3D trial. The 3D trial comprised 6-monthly comprehensive reviews with a focus on patient-centred care, and included a pharmacist reviewing the patients’ electronic medical records and making up to four medication recommendations for consideration during a face-to-face review between the GP and patient. 7 The study intervention was based on the 3 D’s: the Dimensions of health (including quality-of-life and patient priorities for their health) identifying and treating Depression and simplifying Drug treatments. The present study was nested within the 3D trial, a multicentre, cluster-randomised controlled trial of a complex intervention to improve quality of life for people with multimorbidity. 6 The aim of the current study was to explore GP and pharmacist views towards interprofessional working within the context of optimising medicines for patients with multimorbidity. The authors have previously explored GP and pharmacist perspectives on the usual practice of medication reviews and found that being efficient (getting it done) tended to take priority over being thorough (doing it well). Pharmacists could play a key role in tackling the workload associated with managing polypharmacy however, research into how best to integrate their skills is lacking. 4, 5 Practice pharmacists have non-dispensing roles, including dealing with prescription requests from patients and community pharmacists and reconciling medications following discharge from hospital, as well as consulting with and treating patients. In response to increased primary care workload pressures in the UK, 4 there has been an increase in the number of practice pharmacists working as part of the primary care team. Clinicians are encouraged to follow evidenced-based guidelines for prescribing and, although there are some criteria-based tools (such as, STOPP/Start) 2 that highlight medications that are potentially harmful and could be deprescribed, these are outweighed by disease-specific guidelines that almost always recommend starting and intensifying treatment. 1 This can require complex clinical decisions, particularly with deprescribing (tapering down and stopping of medications), where issues such as loss of clinical benefit must be balanced against reductions in medication errors, adverse reactions, and prescribing burden. Through medicines optimisation, GPs and pharmacists are tasked with working with patients to ensure that they get the best possible outcomes from their medications.

Dragonbox algebra free12/21/2023 For instance, instead of starting with solving equations and problems, the game first teaches the user how to discriminate between two characters and to separate them. We both enjoyed it immensely! Even more so, it was quite addicting! Rather than giving a problem such as “x+y=5” to solve, the app game starts at a very basic level. I gave my son, who is in seventh grade, a chance to field-test the Dragon Box and I played it as well. Although, those who are younger and even adults who are “young at heart” will enjoy it as well. What better way to teach abstract content, such as algebra than to teach it with games?!? Teaching with games motivates and engages students.ĭragon Box is highly beneficial for students in middle school. In addition, it is becoming increasingly common that the content being taught is presented in a way that includes online gaming, simulations, and/or augmented reality. to make it meaningful to them.Īs we are moving further into the 21st century, students are expecting that their learning includes digital devices. It is the teacher’s job to teach the material in a way the students can relate to. In addition, the equations and formulas being taught are abstract they are not something concrete that the students can relate to. Sitting and learning a bunch of letter and number combinations, which have no meaning to the students whatsoever, is just not appealing or engaging. On the contrary, they might find it quite boring. Most middle school students would not find learning pre-algebra or algebra that exciting. There was “y”, there was “x”, there was “x+y=5”, there was “1/x + 2/y = ⅓”, and so forth. Jordan Shapiro in Forbes said he was "astonished" at how quickly his son learned algebraic equations, and was blown away.Dragon Box, by WeWantToKnow AS - I vividly remember the days long ago, when I was in middle school learning algebra. Adam Renfro of Getting Smart called the game "a shining example of what gamification should look like". Īnn Elliott of Edudemic called the game "intuitive" and user-friendly. Stephanie Fogel of Gamasutra called the game something every developer should study, quoting Nicholas Fortugno saying the educational elements are "elegant and hidden, the way good educational games should be". He stated that it "makes algebra so fun and easy to learn that my kids fight over who gets to play it". Liu of Wired commenting on how his children "loved" the game despite its heavy mathematical focus. The game received positive reception from critics, with Jonathan H. The game was programmed by Zoran Popovic, a computer scientist who also created the video game Foldit. He started the We Want to Know studio with the goal of making educational games that were actually fun to play. The co-founder and CEO of the game's studio is Jean-Baptiste Huyhn, a former math teacher who was frustrated with the way math was taught in schools and wanted to teach it in a way that made more sense to children. The player gets bonus stars if they complete the level in as few moves as possible, and with as few cards left as possible. While the cards are initially icons of various creatures and objects, the game uses them to abstractly demonstrate mathematical equations before later replacing them with variables and numbers. To beat each level, the player must play a puzzle minigame in which they organize cards on two trays. The game has five "worlds" with twenty levels each, and beating each level allows the dragons that the player possesses to grow into a new, more advanced form.
